He's coming of age
As I mentioned in the previous post, Lucas and I had to go to the Norweigan Seamen Center (=Norska Sjömanskyrkan) on Saturday. It was the initial gathering for the young adults getting confirmed next spring.
Thee group consisted of four girls and five boys, and this session was for them to get to know each other and bond a bit. Two of them came all the way from Abu Dhabi, Lucas and his friend Adrian.
Most of their studies will actually be taking place online, but they'll gather a few times up in Dubai throughout the year too. In March they are going to a camp in London, with other expat kids doing the same thing, and in April it'll be time for the confirmation ceremony itself.
Lucas was pretty positive coming away from this first meet, even though he didn't understand much as the priest is Norweigan, ha ha. I hope he'll find most of it interesting and maybe even fun; in the end, going through this sure isn't a bad thing, and he'll take away what he takes away from it.
